Create a short-term trend forecast for the fall winter 2024 season

The Ask

Process

I worked seamlessly with a team of five , Caera Harrison, Lillian Sisti, Nicole Esteban, Sofia Nicchitta and myself to brainstorm, research and develop a fashion forecast that was visually appealing and accurately predicted upcoming fashion trends.

Pinterest Boards: Used to gather imagery and inspiration

Brainstorm: One space to assemble all our ideas and make sense of them

  • We go the opportunity to choose our team for this project. While we did not all know each other before the project we worked very well together. We did not have official jobs but Caera was our team leader, Lillian did a lot of graphic design and made our video, I did research and writing with Nicole and Sofia.

  • We began by brainstorming what we wanted our theme to be. We examined the zeitgeist of the time through fashion publications, runway shows, Pinterest and current events to develop the theme and title of our presentation, The Art of Bad Taste, which examines the rejection of traditional fashion rules as fashion becomes more accessible.

  • We examined runway shows, fashion influences, and world news, collecting information and images that pertained to our theme, The Art of Bad Taste.

  • We presented drafts of the project over the course of the semester as we compiled information, getting feedback and evolving the presentation over the course of the class. It culminated in a presentation of the entire project at the end of the class

Draft slide: Our slides went through several different designs before we were satisfied

My group member Lillian made this video for our forecast which reflects our ideas

Outcome

We presented our forecast on zoom to our professor and several employees from Fashion Snoops, a fashion forecasting company. Our project was chosen as the best in class and was displayed and the end of the year VCUArts fashion show.
